SATURDAY, JUNE 5TH, 2010 FROM 2PM - 11PM
After 152 years of bringing you unique, high-quality wine, Gundlach Bundschu is dedicated to bringing you the same caliber of independent music on a scale as yet unprecedented in Wine Country. The music you’ll hear at Gundlach Bundschu’s Annual Huichica Music Festival on Saturday, June 5th transcends both generation and genre. It comes from critically-lauded emerging bands with national followings that are sure to grow. Though we are biased, for our money there are few better ways to discover great wine and music than by doing both together on a summer evening overlooking our Rhinefarm.
The all-day festival features six bands, including Citay, Fruit Bats, Vetiver on our outdoor amphitheater stage. Doors open 1pm, show 2pm - 11pm.
Ticket includes admission to view all six bands and an exclusive complimentary wine tasting from 1pm – 6pm. Wine and a selection of foods will be available for purchase throughout the show.
SOLD OUT

HEADLINERS: CITAY, FRUIT BATS and VETIVER
Opening Bands: Extra Classic, Tortured Genies, Tussle
CITAY:
An earnest, plush mix of psychedelic pop-rock, San Francisco-based Citay’s sound seems to spring from the shoulders of a hundred seventies-era giants like Big Star, Led Zeppelin and Fleetwood Mac. The brilliance lies in how they’ve repurposed this kaleidoscopic pastiche into contemporary soundscapes with billowing vocal harmonies and shimmery electric guitar. For more information, go to www.citay.net.
FRUIT BATS:
Fruit Bats originated in 1999 by Eric Johnson, the guitarist, pianist and singer of this charismatic folk rock band. They signed to Sub Pop in 2002 and have since toured with groups including Modest Mouse and the Shins. Sometimes described a “zoology rock” or “bootgazer,” the band’s lilting rustic sound features the honey twang of Johnson’s vocals, a jangly, boot-stomping rhythm section and wide open, surf-country guitars. VETIVER:
Once described as producing "dreamy, gentle songs that George Harrison would have written in some sunny country garden,” San Francisco’s psych-folk band Vetiver has been building a fervent fan base since its first album release in 2004. Headed by songwriter Andy Cabic, Vetiver, signed to Sub Pop, is often joined by folk heavyweight Devendra Banhart and it has extensively toured with Joanna Newsom. Full of acoustic haze and canyon-sized echoes, a dreamy sixties wanderlust bubbles to the surface of Vetiver’s music like some long ago afternoon in Golden Gate Park.
